The Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management offers skills programmes (short courses), one-year Certificates, two-year Diplomas and a three-year Advanced Diploma.
The Tourism Hospitality Education Training Authority (THETA) programmes are Unit Standard based and consist of 30% academic or theoretical work (lecture based) and 70% practical training within the Hotel School. Programmes commence in January of each year. On the completion of the modules, assessments are conducted between the learner and the assessor. On successful completion of the first year course or any part thereof, a student may be issued with either a certificate of competency of will be declared competent in the courses that they might have been found to be competent in.

Skills programmes are NQF (National Qualifications Framework) aligned, suitable for people that are currently employed in the industry as well as young people wanting to enter the hospitality industry. We offer these skills programmes mostly to mines, hospitals and government departments.
