The long term vision is to have these students continuing to train at the hotel school to obtain National Diplomas for the next two years. With this initiative, there are plans to discuss possible placements of the Mafikeng Hotel Schools students in the United Arab Emirates and Mozambique and discussions on this matter have been scheduled to take place before the end of February 2012.
“This is extremely good for us because it signals recognition of our institute by the National Department of Tourism” says the Rector of the Hotel School, Joseph Akwa.
The Mafikeng Hotel School has recently undergone serious refurbishment which has given it a new trendy look and feel. The refurbishment was made possible by government funding through the provincial Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism (DEDECT).
